WABASH AVENUE (Chicago)
Wabash Avenue is a two-screen print. A positive and a negative image
were prepared from the printing of a black & white negative on kodalith
film. These were enlarged on a copy machine and touched up with black
permenant markers.
The positive image was my black screen. The negative image was my blue
sky and background color screen. I did not use white ink applied with
cards to the blue in the sky on this run. Light, gray-blue ink was used
on the lower half of the blue screen. These two screens were printed
wet on wet with the blue screen printed first.
Then, with a brush I quickly applied the yellow ink of the street lights
by hand.
Screen printing in the hands of an artist is not just a technical skill - it is an art.
